Sucrosomial® Iron for anemia of chronic diseases

Anemia of chronic diseases (ACD) - is pathological condition characterized by chronic inflammation causing the development of anemia.

  1. Inflammation stimulates production of IL-6 by macrophages
  2. IL-6 acts on hepatocytes, inducing hepcidin synthesis
  3. Hepcidin inhibits ferroportin
  4. Absorption of iron in the intestine is reduced
  5. Flow of iron into the blood stops
  6. Synthesis of hemoglobin is impaired

In the treatment of chronic diseases anemia regular iron preparations are of low efficience due to impaired suction in the intestinal. For effective therapy of chronic diseases anemia, a hepcidin-independent iron delivery route is necessary.

SUCROSOMIAL IRON IS INNOVATIVE HEPCIDIN-INDEPENDENT WAY OF IRON DELIVERY TO THE BODY

Sucrosomes containing iron enter the M-cells of the small intestine by endocytosis and are transported to the liver with lymph flow.  Since Sucrosomial® iron (in contrast to ferrous and ferric iron in traditional preparations) does not interact with the membrane of enterocytes and transfer enzymes in it (DMT-proteins and ferroportin), its absorption does not depend on the content of the inflammatory protein hepcidin, which in cases of concomitant inflammatory processes inhibits the absorption of iron into the intestine.
