Why are athletes a potential risk group for IDA?

In athletes, iron deficiency could be caused by a number of reasons: insufficient iron content in the food consumed and general composition of the diet;  tea, coffee and calcium interfere with the absorption of iron; loss of iron during profuse sweating during physical activity; hemolysis - destruction of erythrocytes due to mechanical (occurs when running when the foot hits the ground) and chemical (associated with a lack of oxygen or a high concentration of lactic acid) injury; minor hemorrhages in the intestines and bladder with excessive exertion.

Therefore, if you are experiencing a lack of energy during exercise, you should see your doctor.  He would be able to pinpoint the cause of the symptom and prescribe the correct treatment, which will include iron, vitamins and natural sources of nutrients.
